The Rules

I was having a look through my old posts last night and realized that I earlier promised to put the rules in a separate blog so that it would be easier for people to reference.

Importantly: Start every day of your detox with either a cup of hot water with lemon or a green tea.

The overall rules of the detox are:

  1. No red meat (chicken and fish are fine)
  2. No dairy - however, a number of exceptions: Plain bio-live, Greek and goats milk yogurt, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, goats cheese, feta cheese, halloumi and buffalo mozzarella are all ok.
  3. No alcohol
  4. No fruit, except bananas
  5. No vegetables from the nightshade family (such as potatoes, aubergines, cucumbers, tomatoes or peppers).
  6. No sugar - and therefore no foods that contain such. Honey is however allowed.
  7. No gluten
  8. No yeast
  9. No artificial flavorings or sauces (tomato sauce, vinegar, mustard); herbs & spices are fine
  10. No soft drinks, teas or coffees, except herbal and green tea

  1. hej Maf! thanks for the rules and regulations post! what are the foods in the typical diet that punters have to watch out for their nasties (gluten, yeast, sugar) content? what the foods that you have found contain the nasties - to your surprise? and are us punters allowed stevia as an alternative sweetner? tak!!

  2. Hi Matthew. Apart from the obvious such as bread, pasta, cakes etc which you are of course not allowed, the 'normal' foods that surprised me were things like soy sauce (which contains wheat, ie gluten) and tamari (which contains alcohol). Another thing that surprised me is something I have already commented on a lot - how many products are sold as 'corn', 'brown rice' etc, yet turns out to have 40-60% wheat content. In terms of your question about stevia, I am not 100% sure but my gutt feel is that like other plant sugars (what you find in fruit and agave, from which you have agave syrup, are all not allowed) neither is stevia. Enjoy! Marianne
